By performing each test, and by a process of elimination you will identify the cause or causes in your individual case so you can work on the areas of concern.

To determine if your snoring is a health concern for you, answer each of the following questions. Add the number of points that apply to you or someone you are doing this test in behalf of. Your score evaluation will appear below.

  • People tell me that I snore. — 2 Points

  • My bed partner is disturbed often by my snoring. — 3 Points

  • My snoring disturbs others in the next room. 3 Points

  • My snoring has become progressively worse. — 4 Points

  • I snore only when I sleep on my back. — 2 Points

  • I snore while sleeping in all positions. — 2 Points

  • I have been told that I stop breathing between snores. 5 Points

  • My snoring causes me to awaken suddenly. — 5 Points

  • I am always sleepy during the day. — 2 Points

  • I feel sleepy when I work or drive. — 2 Points

  • I snore at night and have high blood pressure. — 5 Points

Evaluating Your “Snore Score”

0-2 Points

Your snoring may be associated with a variety of causes, including, but not limited, to allergies, general physical characteristics, and lifestyle. There are various non-invasive, self-applied remedies and appliances. Snoring of any type should always be taken seriously, and monitored.

2-5 Points

Your snoring probably interferes with your personal life. You may be a positional snorer who snores only in certain places. You have potential risks for sleep apnea or other medical conditions and sleep related maladies. You may consider bringing this important matter to a properly trained health professional. There are also various non-invasive, self-applied remedies and appliances.

6-10 Points

Your snoring may be symptomatic of a variety of causes. Your risk of having apnea or other medical condition may be accentuated. Consultation with a trained health professional should be highly considered when using self applied remedies and/or appliance. Consultation with a trained health professional should also be highly considered.

10 or More Points

There is a Good Chance that you have Sleep Apnea! Your immediate attention to this serious possibility should be considered a top priority.
