Kid Snoring

Everyone snores occasionally. Even a baby or a beloved pet may snore! But if your snoring is so loud that your bed partner can’t sleep, you may end up banished from the bedroom. Snoring is caused by a narrowing of your airway, either from poor sleep posture or abnormalities of the soft tissues in your throat. A narrow airway gets in the way of smooth breathing and creates the snore sound. By learning the causes and cures for snoring, you can improve your health, your relationships, and, of course, your sleep!!

Mouth (Oral Cavity)

First, and foremost, please understand that snoring is always something to be concerned about. Aside from an annoyance to others, snoring has many obvious and not so obvious side effects, including, but not limited to, lack of sleep, concentration, mood swings, irritability, marital problems, learning difficulties, work related problems, and even death!

It is estimated that more than 80 million people in North America snore while sleeping. National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that 30% of the population under 40 years of age snores, while 50% over the age of 60 does. Spouses and children are often repeatedly disturbed during their sleep cycles by a snoring family member, which can lead to tensions and animosity.

Snoring and Sleep apnea can be frustrating for patients and their loved ones. Lack of sleep and the associated physical affects can be life altering or life ending. Recent studies have linked a high percent of patients with sleep apnea and snoring with an increase in arteriosclerosis of the carotid arteries of the neck. This can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular problems such as heart attack or stroke. Snoring can kill you, according to a UCLA School of Dentistry study: the struggle for breath can result in soaring blood pressure which can damage the walls of the carotid arteries and increase the risk of stroke.

Snoring and sleep apnea can also worsen serious health problems including hypertension, leading to stroke, heart attacks, heart failure, and puts the patient at an increased risk for sudden death. The National Council on Sleep Disorders attributes 38,000 cardiovascular deaths per year to consequences of sleep apnea.

The Origin of Snore-Gonomics

For many years I was a loud, obnoxious “Snore Monster“. Believe it or not, I actually thought it was funny. Then, ten years ago, my lovely wife, deprived of sleep, energy, and patience, warned me:

If you don’t do something about your snoring, you can sleep in the guest bedroom”. “I can’t remember the last good night sleep I’ve had.” She added, “Along with the effects on your health, and your moodiness; you’re being very selfish. Do something about it!”

The choice lacked debating. Because I love my wife and family, I decided that it was time to “Do something about it!” I contacted an old friend of mine from college who is affiliated with a very well respected sleep study and research center. After having a complete study done, it was determined that I had a very serious, potentially life-threatening condition known as sleep apnea.

My snoring and sleep apnea is completely under control. I was one of the lucky ones. My health is no longer in jeopardy, my wife is able to sleep restfully, and my colleagues even commented that I seemed more energetic, less stressed, and overall, a happier person! They were right!

Thankful and inspired, I have since dedicated myself to a comprehensive study of everything associated with snoring and sleep apnea. The result of my study is Snore-Gonomics©

Mr. Snore

As I found out, snoring is definitely no laughing matter. So, before beginning your study, I highly recommend you ask yourself the following questions:

  • Am I ready to do something about my snoring?
  • How important is this to me? My family?
  • Do I really know much about snoring?
  • Have I ever heard myself snore?
  • Do I know the potential health risks?
  • Am I a Chronic “Snore Monster”?

If you are still here, I assume you are interested in getting the facts that will enable you to deal with this problem. But, first an important reminder: You are welcome to all the very useful information you will find. While we have made every attempt to provide the information in an easy to read and understandable format, you will find some links and references to detailed information, described in “medical terms”. Be assured that you do not need a degree in medicine in order to effectively understand and deal with this subject. While many effective remedies can be self-applied, some may not. For this reason, some of this information will form a critical reference point, when, if necessary, you need to address your condition with a qualified health professional.
